can 1 link give you a major boost in the search engines?
I was wondering if just maybe like 2-3 links would give you a major search engine boost if they was relevant , and powerful enough?
like right now I'm in the top 100 for custom website design, and seo tools.
which granted I know these ain't strong keywords for what I'm looking for any ways, but if i caan get them in top I think I could draw enough traffic to make ends meet, and then turn around, and buy more text links.
lets say a website with a alexa ranking of 3,000 linked to me, that had that was relevant?

One link would be enough to get you to the top of Google (for most keyword phrases), if it was from an aged site with authority.

Yep. Land a link on an authority site that stays there and you will get a nice trust boost from Google

okay
okay so the better age domain, or more trusted domain the better ranking, or more google juice?
when you said older domain, would older domains only give me a more of a boost, or just any domain with a high trust factor?
and if so what trust factors do i look at in a domian is it pr level, age, backlinks to that site?
hmmm so its possible to have 1 relevant link(organic strong link) that will put more weight toward you then 1,000 new pr0 directories tied into you?

your question is about weight of incoming links. you may refer this as reference:

nice chart
very nice chart man, I wonder how accurate that is though. Thats the thing, and then you got relevant links too which I was thinking of buying some of v7n contextual links, or from text-link-ads.com.
but v7n.com offers a life time placement, also i have major directories im submitting to, but these are not relevant, as to what contextual v7n.com offers., but then again I'd like to know where these links are hehe.
I'm thinking I'm a lot better buying links then using the free directories which granted I'll still use free directories, but seems like articles haven't been doing much for me.
I got some good ideas now , I think this is where its at, plus once i start getting traffic from the SES I can start building natural links
hehe organic links turn me on
I'm hungry for links - hehe quality links

If you find some, let me know. My domain is 11 years old and 3-4 months ago changed the site from construction related to real estate. I've got a ton of backlinks, of which some are high pr. Maybe things will change at the next Google update (another 3 months), but for now I've been kinda stuck at positive 5 or 6 for my keyphrases. I need to be in the top three to experience any serious traffic.

Yes I would recommended buying quality links, I see your sites pr level is reading 2, but i would buy some of johns, or v7n.com contextual links I would recommended these over getting listed into directories reason I say that is because there high quality organic links from what I was told, I am going to buy probably a quite of bit of them.

I agree. Actually, I had already been scouring the Internet looking for related sites to buy blog entries or insert links within content. I purchased one from John to try our the service. We'll see what transpires.
Do you know if the links are permanent?

Yes johns links are perm., but honestly I would suggest buying 20-40 of them, but then again depends on what your shooting for, and you have a very good domain age, and I'd assume thats why your getting good traffic, but if you have the finances i would buy like 50 of them.
Never know 1 might give you a boost, and don't forget to use your keyword in the anchor text

I don't ever mean to post twice in a row, but I just read this article and it relates mightily to the topic of this thread:

For what it is worth, half the time it is 'gal' the other half 'ugly dude.' We be a husband wife team. And the saying holds true, "the ugly dudes always get the nice looking chicks!"
