java script vs css navigation bars

Hey guys I should know this question my self to be honest with you, but i have a clients site I'm working on, and I notice the nav bar was done in javascript, and its running from script, but there is several keywords in this, and links on this nav bar, but I don't think the spider is going to spider js files .

Should I redo this in css cause css will give it the same look, and everything.

I suppouse you are working as the designer, not the SEO guy right?.
In any case it'd be better to redo it, but you can ask him if he cares about search engines. Maybe he doesn't.

CSS will be better, but I think google can crawl the texts from javascript.

Erm... Wait! what if the there is 'a' tag then obviously it will work for SE (i.e. DHTML)! There are number of ways you can do this the easiest is to view source, the second is to remove the JS and CSS file and see if you can still navigate. The third is to disable JS and CSS using a developer tool bar for FireFox or IE7. The one I like is for firefox and you can plug it in here.
