I do not agree with the public mud slinging on forums without much basis or fact.

Do you see a lot of that?
I see people attacking some types of search engine optimization. But it usually is done for a reason. Contractors do not like unlicensed hacks because they usually do not do the job right. They are ignorant of building code and often leave out important procedures, such as seismic hardware or load bearing/load distributing headers and cripples.
Asking a contractor to treat these people with respect is rediculous.
It is the same with search engine optimization. I have respect for SEOs who do the job. I have respect for SEOs that get good rankings for their clients on search terms which drive a lot of relevant traffic.
The problem is, too many SEOs are not doing that. Anybody can put up a website claiming to be an SEO. Anybody can take your money and put the keywords in the page titles, in H1 tags, etc.
But most so-called SEOs do not do a job which satisfies their customers.
It is a terrible industry. Kind of like hosting. It's just too easy to pretend you're an SEO. But getting real rankings for really competitive keywords requires a lot of work. Link building, mainly.
So don't think I'm slinging mud. I'm just saying it like it is.
