Webpage Title question.

Hello dudes,

I have a question about the Title of a webpage.

I began using the title Best hotel rates in (name of the city) and for 2 months I was #1 in Google with query (name of the city) hotels, after a few months my sites began to decrease their status from #1 to a #4 or #5 in google and we have been moved down from this possitions by sites with the title (name of the city) hotels.

So I edited my sites title to (name of the city) hotels (country) and my sites disapear from google first page if I use the query (name of the city) hotels I dont appear, but If I use (name of the city) hotels (country) I appear.

It's there a difference if I use in the title?

Tucson hotels america
or
Tucson hotels, america

Please I need help because I dont now if a comma is holding me down.

Thank you.

Hi sabo - how Mexico this time of year? It's cold and wet here in Britian.

I doubt it's the comma - more likely you are lacking good backlinks. You really need to look about get more backlinks, if you can - links to your page that include your keywords "Tucson hotels america"...

That's the most immediate thought, anyhow. It's hard to make a comment without an URL though.

Hope that helps.

I am with I,Brian. I would say that it is likely you need more backlinks. I never put much effort at all in any of my meta content, the title I try to keep relevant but short and not overly on topic. It works for me!

Webpage Title question.

I PM I, Brian and after that he sufered a chest pain attack I decide to post a real example of my case.

I used to have in my page title this:

Best hotel rates in Hermosillo - bla bla bla (www.hermosillo-hotels.com)

and I was #1 with the query "hermosillo hotels"

Then I began to see my page falling down positions and being replace by sites with the page title Hermosillo hotels, bla bla bla...

Then I change my page title to Hermosillo hotels Mexico - bla bla bla...

And my site disapear from the face of Google using the query Hermosillo hotels.

I made this change like a month ago.

Can you tell me what I did wrong?

One example is pretty good - digging through that immense list of keywords and domains that you sent me does not make a restful evening.

Besides, as I stated, other people can throw in helpful info here in public.

It's a nice site actually...but I'll get on with diagnosis:

Basically, you suffer from very poor backlinks. The only significant links you have are from a blog, and your other hotel sites.

$5 in Monopoly money says your other hotel sites are all on the same IP block, yes?

My advice is pretty straight - you need lots of links - from multiple sites, and from different IPs. I would actually say that lots of links from lots of IPs is far better than lots of links from a few IPs. And that seems to be your problem - and it's one I've highlighted before in this forum.

If you can, my best advice would be to look to setting up your hotel sites on different IP blocks - take out shared hosting from different servers across different datacenters.

Also, get more links from any site related to Mexico, Hotels, and similar themes as your - related or same topics. Set up a links page – either use your hotel directory, or better still, set up a new directory on a different IP block for your link exchanges. (If you do that, use that new directory to promote all your Hotels from there, and also have your link exchanges set up from there. So when you approach other sites for a link exchange, they link to one of your sites, and you link to them from your directory. – Good directory software: try www.directory-search.org)

New pages get a “fresh content” boost in Google, but there’s no maintaining those positions without links – messing with the title tags won’t save your rank when rank is about link popularity these days.

Anyway, if that's too long, here's the bullet point version:

- host each of your domains from a different shared hosting plan from different web hosts,
- get links from other sites on Mexico, Travel, and similar (on-topic or related-topic only please),
- set up a link exchange program, focussed on a Mexican Hotels Directory (that strongly promotes your sites - fotter links, for example).

This is simplest the easiest way that you can begin to set really good foundations for your sites by yourself, and although won’t guarrantee top rankings, it should certainly move you up into a far better position.

Hope that helps.

NB - Use your forum signature to link to your key sites - and then join altyfc's travel forums and get your link about (DON'T spam - just chat, be friendly, be nice, post about). Forum sigs aren't very good for PR purposes, but then can do wonders for hitting lower competition search terms.

Not only the backlinks but if you change the <title> then your keyword density in your title can change and possibly throwing off your rankings.

Thank you guys...

I, Brian, RonHollingsworth, Emancipator, thank you for your help.

In my case I do have a link exchange in every site and I do have a huge VB.NET site with a different IP linking all my Mexico destinations sites.

About the diferent IP for each site that's going to be a problem because we have 30 sites and I don't think it's going to be good idea to have 30 diferents webhostings and the guys at serverbeach won't help to much in case I ask them for 26 more ip's.

I will work deeper on the backlinks I think that's all that matters when you have all your site optimize.

Right now I have a good position if you use the query (name of the city) weather e.g.
Hermosillo weather
Ensenada weather
rocky point weather
etc...

Thank you guys
