If you are talking about the search engine listing, to change the description all you have to do is change the wording in the description meta tag in the header of the site.

<meta name="description" content="Whatever you want the description to be" />

The SE will change the description the next time their spiders index the site.

If you are listed in a directory, you will need to go to the actual directory's website to change your information. Some allow you to have an account that you log in and change your information yourself. For others you will need to contact the admin/owner directly. You need to check each directory's faq/help pages for their policy.

A side note: Some directories, like Alexa, get their information from Dmoz. If that is the case, you'll need to update your information at Dmoz in order for it to populate through the other directories that use their database.

You'll need to look into the FAQs and rules of the directories to see if you can change the descriptions. Sometimes, it's possible to just change the description but sometimes you'll have to send the owner of the site an email.

I didn`t understand well, but the various discription in the directories are useful!
If you mean for search engines, just change in the html files or so and you will see the changes after reindexing it.
