Need help with 1 of my sites!

Hi guy's I am really into SEO but I do not know everything and I have no experience in optimising adult sites, I took one on about a month back (not realising what I was getting myself into) and I have just managed to get the site to number 2/3 on Google for the company name, I get the feeling the site has been hit with some sort of penalty, I have just submited the site to yahoo! directory which has cost me $600 other then that I am running out of ideas, I have done a few other big directories and I am seeing very little change in the search results (it is at about 500 on Google for London Escort agency, about 30 for European Escort Agency), I am talking to the owner about removing the link directory (as I am worried about the sites it links too), if anyone has any ideas about why this site has been penalised or about how I can get it up there I would appreciate them.

I had a look at it. It's not penalized so don't worry about the links page. Reason why you don't rank (yet) is the enormous competition in that niche. All you need to do is get tons more backlinks.

I agree with Ferre. You're just in a very, very competitive market so it's going to take a lot of time to get the links you need to compete.

One think I just noticed is you have canonical issues. You can access the site as www.domain.com, domain.com, www.domain.co.uk, domain.co.uk. I didn't look beyond that. Search engines see those as four separate domains so if I link to www.domain.com and Ferre linked to domain.co.uk you have one link for two domains instead of two links for one domain.

You should pick one and redirect all the others (301 redirect) to that one domain. It won't matter which domain you use, but pick one. I'd go with the www.domain.co.uk since it might give you a local boost in the UK and www is usually the standard, but again it really doesn't matter as long as they all point to one version of the domain.

Heh hard day in the office reviewing an escort agency site - despite never taking on the work I make a point of pitching for the business anyway!

As the others point out, it's a highly competitive market - you're gonna need to get creative working on link building and making sure all the bases are covered (canonical issues as pointed out, etc).

Your link directory is fine (it's fairly relevant), although kinda pointless having a "search engine" section there so I'd ditch it.

Perhaps consider doing some more content for the site that other escort sites don't do - cover issues like privacy, safety for escorts, date suggestions and the like? Those might be more link worthy topics.

And tbh I'm not a fan of the random links to girl's names ("eve" part of "every" is linked to "Eve's page" and so on) - less of a SEO issue, but I would consider tidying that up.
