sites with high pr

Hello
I am a beginner in web site promotion, so there are many obscure points for me. I am promoting mp3 site. As far as I know link exchange is one of the best means for promotion. There are some sites with high pr but few sites that link onto them. How do the sites with high pr achieve this? e.g. http://www.mp3shits.com
Can you help with some advice?

Just one question...is it meant o be 'MP3s hits' or 'MP3 shits'? Either way its an unfortunate url

Cylopa, link exchanges are generally not a great way to go about link building - they have been somewhat devalued since their rising popularity a few years ago.

There are plenty of other ways to grab decent one way links from sites:

- directory submissions
- paid links
- write articles for other sites
- press releases
- simply ask for links from other related sites
- forum signatures

And the best way I've found is simply to have a great site that people want to link to naturally!

Has this tactic actually worked for anyone?

We seem to be in competition with all of the websites relevent to our own!

I think MP3Hits may have been a better choice.

PR is not so important. if i were you focus more on your content

I think You did not need link from high page rank because your PR=6
- you have neglect all on-page optimization try to correct that:
1- add Meta tag description
2- alt img
3-.....

- then add just link with anchor text with your keywords
- write article: point anchor text to your website with keywords
- post to forum related to your topic.

I agree completely with you but not only content is what count. You need to works on promotion.It cost time but you will see result after 6-12 months if you works really hard.
