What Would You Type Into Google?

This is my first post on this forum/website. it appears to me to be a no bullshit site. Good to see!
my name is adam but i use the ID admimsid and i'm living in melbourne australia. i am not going to try and sell anyone anything. this is not my intention at all. i do have a website, and yes, i am trying along with every other tom dick and harriette to sell from it...and to increase traffic...leading to more sales. what i'm looking for is the ability to find answers to questions from like minded people out there, and i'm hoping there's quite a few of you.
so...here's my question and i hope i get a whole stack of replies.
i sell on line a wall planner/calendar. not a conventional calendar that has you flipping the page each month to reveal a lovely little drawing. my planner is more like a poster you stick on the wall and it shows the whole year in one glance.
question...am i allowed to post the url???
anyway
just imagine that you were looking for a yearly wall planner for home or the office. WHAT WOULD YOU TYPE INTO GOOGLE??
No silly nonsense please. this is a genuine question that i thought i could pose to many people all at the same time through the use of a forum like this.
thanks for your time
admimsid

I think it is best for you to do some keyword research with overture or digitalpoint and come behind what is most used combo for wall, planner and calendar.
If i look for wall calendar i will probably use wall calendar combo but overture will tell you more.

Refined...more refined...

Well if I am, say for example a nokia mobile phone... i would start my search with "nokia mobiles"...then move to some specific mobile set, like "nokia n70" (well thats what i have got recently) then further look for its accessories and search for "nokia n70 accessories"... so did you get the point... the more refined your search keywords are the better chances of conversion...and i guess you know the meaning of conversions...

thanks keep thim comming

thanks to all those (4 of you ) who replied to my question. i reckon most people would type CALEDAR. this however ifeel is a little too broad as the planner i sell is a wall planner (one year to an open page) and as i have mentioned it is different to a normal month to a page calendar.
anyway, the forum has been helpful.
what about my question of posting a url...is this allowed?
speak soon

To be completely honest - I would never search for a yearly wall planner. I'd go to the shop and buy one.

If I were to buy one of those, It would be something I'd chuck into my cart while looking for stationery if it jumped out at me.

So, to answer your question, my search would probably be "buy stationery new zealand" or "online stationery order nz" or something like that. I would include the "new zealand" (ie my location) because freight would be cheaper for me.

Overture is a handy tool, but I think you are doing the right thing in asking people for their opinion as well. Overture provides a small piece of the puzzle, but understanding how people think is important too.

first i typed calendar poster

then calendar AND poster

then calendar AND poster AND year ... this turned up "Full Year '07 Poster Calendar..." in the page title of the first result

then i ended up with "poster calendar" OR "calendar poster" and i would have just checked as many results as possible for a long time....

but then not everyone has my seo skills

upon getting no good results i would have also tried:
12 month calendar page
year calendar page

full "calendar on single page"

full calendar "on single page"

...etc

i think your best bet is just to optimise for calendars generally, and maybe also posters.

try this tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

good luck!

Have you been using the overture keyword tool to look for alternates?

http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/

Most of the searches seem to be related to "wall calendar" with either the year "2007 wall calendar" or a subject "simpsons wall calendar", etc.

LOL it's amazing how many webmasters still use overture - wake up and smell the Google tool already. it's like 100000000000000 times better. see my last post for the link.

Hi there,

First of all you said WHAT WOULD YOU TYPE INTO GOOGLE??...why just Google, remember SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and that include all search engines.

I start by searching for keywords that anyone would search primarily, which would usually be, "Calendar". I would then see what competition I am against and see what SEO techniques, backlinks, and other concepts of SEO that they may of used.

Sometime, luckily, they have been sloppy, which means you can target your best keyword. Alternatively if that is rubbish and it would be too hard to compete in a business manner, I would then research more in depth keywords like, "Wall Calendar", "Poster Calendar", etc, etc, etc.

Search all the majors, Yahoo!, Google, Live, Ask (sigh), and then research through other smaller search engines. It is a long process and a boring one too, but if you want targeted sales and traffic, it is a task you have to do.

Hope this helped you a little bit .

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

I would type "wall calendar" or "yearly calendar". But try to use suggestion tool. And also use different variations of targeted keywords.

Probably not a good idea.

And I think I would type in "calendar" and depending on the results, refine the query or browse the sites returned.
