Well I know that age plays a big role in Pageranking. Not sure about number of backlinks though. A few PR6 sites I've looked at have a thousand or more backlinks.

I think PR now has less value. The important thing is that you get your targeted traffic on your site.

You should concentrate more on quality backlinks rather than quantity to have a good PR.

Hi have the domain for 7 years, have 11-12k unique users daily, have the best content on my target on my country, have first position on google.pt for all the main keywords. I have lots of backlinks...
Indexed Pages for my domain:
Google: 25,200
MSN Search: 15,304
Yahoo!: 17,662
AlltheWeb: 17,900
AltaVista: 18,000
The total number of pages that contain links to my domain: 20,975
I think It's time to increase page rank....

Exactly. If you're going to buy links, try to get a few really great links instead of a bunch of mediocre links. IME, you get rewarded much more for having links from high PR, authority-type sites.
As your PR rises, it gets harder to boost it up any higher. It's easy to go from PR 1 to PR 2 with just a bunch of directory links, but PR 6 will require some quality links.

Not necessarily true. It more about getting quality back links. It is quiet possible to get PR6 in the very first update after the launch.

Agree with you.PR is in my opinion not import as many people thinks that it is.
Traffic is what count. The effect of higher PR on your rank on SE is trivial to.

PR is also very important for people engaged in link sales. Not to mention the directory owners.

I don't see any relation...I have some basic skills on Page Rank technology...and have never read anything relating the two things...
I have PR5 and PR4 websites with both 40 uniques and 12k uniques a day.

from what you are saying, you appear to have a very successful website.. plenty of traffic and good positions in the serps.. erhm.. what does it matter if your PR is 1 ot 10 ?
I mean if you have great listings already for your main terms.. what help will additional PR give you?

i'm not sure about the age of the site if it affects PR.. what i know is that PR is based from the backlinks that you have to your site, most especially the relevant ones.

charlesgan, thanks for the first link, very useful.
The second link I use it a lot. I already have PR6 predicted (6.1) with 76% acuracy and 58,620 backlinks. But in the past not always this tool was acurate enough with this domain.
