i was having a heated discussion with a friend the other day. she was trying to tell me that her ranking with google was pushed way up the ladder because she typed her own url into the search engine as often as possible ie a number of times each day. can typing your url into google over and over have an effect on your ranking? i felt that she was wrong however i thought it best to check with the community who would know.

I actually used to use a software (SE commando) to check some positions everyday and my IP ended blocked by Google for about an hour as a spammer... I wouldn't be doing queries all the time

Well is that would be the case life of an SEO would be easy, there is no connection regarding on what your friend is dong. She's just waisting time and effort.
