I heard that you can get backlinks or traffic through things like myspace or facebook, anyone have any information on this?

yes myspace backlinks suck, but then again if its a sub domain its a backlink, sub domains are counted as a new domain, but consider buying quality contextual blog post links, or something, I wouldn't suggest getting backlinks from myspace accounts.

I think myspace links are terrible. rarely do I see myspace profiles in SERPS

Myspace can be a great networking resource. Most of my myspace friends are local musicians that I know or have met. They keep me in the loop when they are promoting something and I keep them when I am promoting something. It's a great resource. But as everything else, it's as good as the list you own.

Rarely I have seen the myspace backlinks in the G or Y rankings.

I think myspace works okay for traffic and networking, but not for SEO. I never find the myspace pages of members on my site in search engines. I have however seen people get traffic from networking through myspace.

I would not worry about sites like my space, they are hard to get done correctly anyhow. I prefer to get real links that are strong and actually get indexed in a few days!

Signature links are good for that

I see myspace pages showing up for backlinks all the time. Some myspace pages have themes and a lot of PR. For me, MS has become a very nice seo resource and another way to make more $$$ from the web. Its also very nice to see the My space pages I manage getting visited a couple times a week from Google bot.

I know a fella that sells links off his myspace page and makes about $100 a month just in residual links sales.

Myspace can be a great resource of traffic if you use it properly and don't worry about backlinks or SE results thru Myspace, this is totally a different place to get traffic, build huge friends list and the you can send bullentins, create myspace blog and moreover you can make money by selling your account if you have large number of friends list in Myspace..

so all in all, myspace can be a good source of traffic right?? How many of you uses myspace for backlinks? Some of you guys says its good some doesn't agree... Just wanna know if it won't be a bad thing to try...
