good SEO book

Could anyone recommend a good SEO book which is aimed at newbies? It should be a complete one with PPC also.

But Aaron's book has enough PPC tips to help anyone! It is really the best book out there and the most complete.

Try Search Engine Optimization for Dummies, 2nd edition. It is a great starting point. Don't remember if it covers the PPC. Worth a read.

Aaron's book is good. There is some coverage of PPC as well, but in truth if you want to get the straight goods on PPC it's probably worth reading other books on the subject in adition to what Aaron has to say. However, Aaron's book is a great start for getting comfortable with SEO - better than anything you'll find in a bookstore.

You can find it at www.seobook.com

Best wishes...

I'd never recommend an SEO book...I've heard good stuff about Wall's book, but he's more of a self-marketer than an SEO guy, and (though I've not read the book myself) I've heard it is plain wrong in some instances.

There's no substitute whatsoever for personal experience when it comes to SEO. I've never read an SEO book myself...

I agree that there is no substitute for personal experience, but for some people with different backgrounds, having a book that systematically looks at the whole SEO process in a competent manner can be a great time saver over sifting through 100's of articles on the net in an effort to get a firm grasp of the SEO process.

As for marketing, I personally view SEO as part of the marketing field. We market websites to search engines.

And so far I haven't met anyone in this industry where I agree with 100% of what they are saying. Everyone has got a few things wrong, but that still doesn't seem to have stopped Mr Wall from ranking first out of 24,000,000+ million pages for the search 'SEO book'

Best wishes...

Touché.

I wasn't 'having a go' at Mr Wall, of course, and he can obviously make sites rank. One of the points he's wrong on is something I myself thought was true: that .edu IBLs have more weight than 'normal' IBLs. They don't. (Though I believe that some are given more weight by hand, rather than algo.) But that can lead someone to bust a nut trying to get .edu links due to mistaken belief that they are special.

Anyhow, what you said is quite right Ian C...

I think Aaron means these links are special because they usually belong to authority sites which focus on a certain niche and bring valuable educational content. I suppose... when a edu site links back to you it means you are also considered an authority in your domain. I might be wrong...

While mine doesn't cover PPC as that is not truly SEO my ebook is only 14.95 at the seo kit .com I separated it as I don't want to link directly to it

If you want, I can hook you up with a free copy if you promise to review it.
