seo for new site

in thread "Do it yourself SEO", after optimizing on-page, John suggests go to link building. However, from Jim Boykin, he doesnt want to do SEO for new site. The site will need to be 2 years old at least for using his link building service. And it seems more people argee with him from his blog.

So, should we do link building for new site or not? If not, what to do next after optimizing on-page?

Jim says that he will not work on a site that is less than 2 years old. That doesn't mean that the site owner should not build links on their own site for the first two years.

The reason Jim won't work on sites for the first 2 years is because domain age plays a critical role in the optimization process. There is limited results in the birth and infancy of a new site.

Start building links through directories and read articles in this forum.

Obvious point, but a key way to get traffic to your site is via links from other relevant sites.

In time, they'll help in your SEO and SERPs. Immediately, they can bring traffic.

Start link building the day you launch, and never stop.

Words of wisdom. Links are valuable in and of themselves, regardless of SEO.

Plus, link building is a long and tedious process. I'd much rather start getting a few links a day from day 1 than wait a year or two and then have a truck load of links to try to get in short order.

Best wishes...

Absolutely.

After making sure that your pages can be crawled, it's the next most important aspect in order to get ranked.

As other posters have suggested, Jim isn't discounting link acquisition, he's merely outlining the terms of his own services. Established domains are certainly easier to work with in terms of ranking.

Having said that, you don't need toomany links, and you don't need to wait two years before they have an effect.

New domains can rank well, and quickly, if they have quality inbounds and buzz.

Next to on-page optimization is off-page optimization which is link building. Get links by

1. Forums posting
2. directory submission
3. article submission
4. press release submission
5. joining social bookmarking site
6. exchanging links with related sites
7. blogging

Yeah that's right. you should start active link building as soon as you launch your site. All of the above given steps would be very fruitful for your site if they are implied in a proper way. To add to that you can also add comments in the blogs and provide a link to your site.
