Google have said they evaluate the IP of a server to determine local ranking:

For .com domains, we rely on the location of the IP address. My best

Your market is the US, and I assume you're using a .com address? If so, it won't affect you.
There are other reasons to host in the country you're targeting. Better response times, generally speaking.
The hosting location may cause problems relating to your ability to rank.
