How to redirect index.html to index.php and keep the same positions?

I want to change my index.html website to index.php How to redirect it and keep positions and pagerank safe?

Is it safe to use cpanel page redirect feature?

is index.html using a server side script? (using url rewriter)
or just a plain html.

you can safely use 301 redirect.

i prefer rewriting index.php to index.html. i always prefer using .html extension.

just rename the file, and remove the index.html, the www.domain.com will still redirect to index.php if its in your root

but what if on some part of website it has a link to www.domain.com/index.html

it will return a 404 and surely affect its position in SERP.

I have over 20 000 links to my domain and it is plain HTML. I afraid that when i change it to index.php i will loose positions and pagerank.

So, the easiest think do do... to use 301 redirect from index.html to index.php right? It will never hurt... correct? Should i delete index.html after?

you can safely use 301 redirect. before deleting index.html try to access first www.domain.com/index.html.
if it successfully redirect you to index.php you can now safely delete index.html

it don't work like that, the search engines start at the index rather its .php .htm .html, or anything to that nature, he will be okay .

See when you add links to your website, and its www.domain.com, all the juice gets passed to your site, all the www.domain.com does is pratically redirects to index.html, index.php which ever you got listed in your directory, and all the juice and links get passed through www.domain.com. read up on it

AgentD is liked by many
I've done this probably 5 times with different websites using 301 and never had a problem, or adverse search engine effects.
