SEO Puzzle

I was doing research lately and was puzzled about a current state of the Internet. I was looking for a specific information concerning "how to do" stuff from a reliable content website and couldn't find it. I scrolled down up to 50 websites for any given search term in Google. All I was getting were commercial websites and crap AdSense oriented junk. There was no real value in those websites to me. I wasn't looking to buy anything nor click on AdSense links. I was looking for a specific information and wasn't able to find it.

I am pissed off right now. I begin to realize that the Internet today is not the Internet I used to know in 2001 or 2003. It got totally commercialized and scammed with AdSense. There is no educational value in it. If Google can't provide adequate results now, nor can any other engine.

Do you have any thoughts on that or I have just lost my mind?

I think you're right in many respects, Kasparoff. Adsense has fueled a lot of trash.

I think Google's end game is make the SERPs more informational (see rise of Wikipedia and the injection of news into the serps). Commercial queries are best served by Adwords.

They haven't got the balance right yet, though.

I feel the same about these trashy sites that are created solely for the purpose of making money off Google ads. I think the ultimate culprit is the Google's ranking algorithm. Artificial intelligence can only go so far. As long as the algorithm is based on number crunching, it will reach a limit in its accuracy. I applaud wikipedia's effort in integrating human input into the search results. Forgot the name of the new search engine they are building. That is the way of the future and will give Google a run for its money.

I think you're absolutely right. I think Google is planning to move to a Cost Per Adquisition model on Adsense to clean up some of the trash as that might improve the quality of the sites (as they'll start looking for buyers, not just visits), but I don't think that it'll solve the problem.

I agree with you guys. Wikipedia has recognized a new market opportunity and they try to exploit it. Two thumbs up in support of them! We definitely need a more useful search engine now.

Adsense are the worst sites. I see too many site that are adsense with millions of non sense pages.
