My own point of view on this is simple
Be careful what you read on forums, some people post as if they are an authority on SEO, however dis-information can be damaging if followed up on. My advise would be to listen to people who own well ranked websites in competitive sectors and ignore the rest.

Fresh content is definitely a necessity for high search rankings. However, I’ve seen a lot of sites publishing content just for the sake of publishing new content. Poor content that is rushed can damage your site’s brand and will turn visitors away. A posting schedule is great, but make sure it is reasonable and allows you enough time to create quality content that is valuable for the end user. If you’re going to sacrifice quality, then don’t update regularly. Patience in SEO is overrated. Most people think that if they implement a change on their website and then wait, and wait, and wait, they are entitled to higher rankings and increased search engine visibility.
It doesn't work like that.

I also agree with you guys that patience is very important since SEO is a long term process. You have to wait for its best results until you have done all the link building method..

The best seo is not always dependent on strategies, it helps to follow your instinct and create content you like and have fun plugging. Starting the snowball effect (or as it was branded a couple of years back ... linkbait) is the only way to go, unless you have absolutely no creativity or ambition to create something of quality.

Focus on original quality content.
Beware of SEO related 'facts' and 'expert claims' because much of what passes for 'SEO' is BS.

Links. It all comes down to them. Whether earned, bought, baited. Don't even need a proper title and headers (of course they are essential, and will get you ranked much faster).
And about links, if you want quantity and cheap price then go India. If you want something of true value, then it's either hard pain sticking work, or a very blown out of proportion expensive, western SEO firm. Get them related/unrelated. Stripped out of content or contextual. They all help.
Get enough high PR (I hate PR, when I mean PR, that means sites that have a lot of quality backlinks pointing to them. I simply hate when people say, wow I got PR3 and I'm #1. YOU CAN BE PR0 and be no1 if you do enough work between those pesky PR updates) unrelated sites , and you'll outrank even your branded competitors who only get links from the related sites.
Spam doesn't work? It sure does if you find the right do-follow high PR (again that damn PR ) blogs.
What about anchor text diversity? Well friends, I was a true believer of that, until I saw a gambling site, using the same anchor over and over on all of their Sponsored Reviews. Got them penalized you say? WRONG. Got them ranked in top 20 within 6 months on those tough gambling keywords.
So to conclude, the most important thing about SEO :
Read less blogs, get more links
Cheers,
Kal

We had a dream, a dream that one day we would be on the front page of Google, MSN, AOL, Yahoo under the search phase - 'website design' and guess what we did it!!!!
How? By understanding our market place, this being website design and ensuring that every customer we sold a website to was happy for us to place our link on the front page under our search term (I would say but I might get into trouble by the BIG C)
Anyway - this worked a treat and hard work and motivation to succeed played a large part to our success.
Many companies are blinded by their sheer tenacity to make the front page, and once there have no idea on how to cater for all there enquiries / let along create a website.
With us, we wished to firstly understand our customers, ensure that we had a decent delivery vehicle, so when the front page came about we were ready to rock and roll.
So what is the most important thing we have learnt, well it is this, do not be blinded by the number one spot.
Take care people and keep it real :-)

hey john,
Some one told me authority may increase your ranking and you are telling non keyword links may increase authority??
As any one posting in forum, If that person is using signature link different than the domain name...will it decrease the authority of domain??
If it is so every one must use only domain address in signature links.....
plz tell me more about domain authority...
thanks!

anchor text in your link will in fact do you justice, it has from day one of the world wide web and still rules. you will hear search engine companies say things are changing and anchor text will derank your site yade yade yada, but heart of the truth is, yahoo, msn, and other major SE's sill heavily rely on it, but remember to spread the wording, e.g dont just use say "used books" for anchor, use other keywords such as "paperback used books" or "romantic used books" and yes if you use the same one over and over and over again, that can be tracked. hope that helps.

Hey friend...I was taking about forum signature links....You have posted 119 post in the forum, from all of your posts you will get links for your site with same anchor text. Will it not devalue your site????
