Linkbait has become the social network equivalent of search engine spam. Expect the defence shields to go up, and as they do, the utility of social networks to go down.

Personally I don't like digg, but I have nothing against other social networks. To be honest I didn't know they had any SEO value. I thought that the main advantage of having your site on such a site is traffic. So from this point of view, the utility of social networks is still high.

Agreed. I still have an account, but I gave up on Digg a long time ago. I hear they are doing a major overhaul soon that will really change the whole experience of the site.

Really, I think forums are where its at. Classic sure, but forums have always been top performers.
