how important is the naming of your images relevant to what they are in SEO, for example, if i have a picture of a bird, how important is it for me to name it bird.jpg verses pic1.jpg, thanks in advance...

Not very, but make sure you do label the ALT tag. That will help.

doesnt have much importance as far as SEO goes. if you are making thumbnails and then linking to the big image, i'd name it properly.

It's not important really - but when naming them, I figure that I may as well give them a simple keyworded name if possible.

i like puting keywords in image names, + it'll be easier to remember "bird.jpg"...

He maybe means when you do a image search for example on google, it does also gives hits to youre page.

I would assume it would help... when I do image searches on google, most of the images that you pull up have a keyword in the name or the alt text, if I remember... how else would it pull that image up?
