deep links in directories

do deep links help, say I buy links from a directory now won't it just split up the juice between all them links? or will it pass just as much as it would like a new domain being on the site, so would it be better to have 10 links on a directory then just 1? or will the link juice all be split up, between the site?

Also will this raise pr by having deep links?

Yes, it do helps.. but I have read that dirctories now don't accept link directories.... I don't know why? The exact is the link of search the better... It adds more traffic.. My SERP increases when I deep links my keywords..
