How often do I submit?

With Google, do I need to submit my site all the time? More then once?

If so, how often?

Only once.

It's even faster to get other websites linking to yours, Googlebot will find crawl your site sooner, depending on the popularity of those sites linking to you.

Just a side note: It won't hurt you to resubmit your site, but like Rob said it won't help.

I heard that people could submit daily except to submit different pages (3-5) .

Guess I was grossly mistaken and shouldn't have listened to that.

The different engines have their own rules.

Google says that you can submit as much and as often as you like. They say that they do not penalise for submission practises.

AV allows as many pages as you like in a day in groups of 5 - their ransom note graphic last for 5 pages. (Do they still have that submission? It's been a while since I used it)

Inktomi used to be happy with up to 10 a day depending on where you submitted to (there's no direct submission to Inktomi), but the number went down.

But these days, it isn't necessary to submit at all. Links from other websites that the spiders are already crawling are sufficient.

You should be fine submitting your site once a month but I doubt it will really help

Google has been really quick crawling new websites lately.

Just get couple links pointing towards to your site from a website that gets googlebot hits quite often.

I had once got my website indexed in google in 8 hours

quite fast eh? only 8 hours of uptime and boom..it's in google. Quite better than old update, had to wait 1 month before.

Oh well

Thanks,
John
