Web Server directories and SEO

Hello there!

I have a couple different websites that are all hosted on a 3rd party web server (shared). In the web space I have created a different directory for each web site. I have then, via the host control panel, set each URL to point to their respective directory as their home directory.

My question is, how does the search engines - the crawlers - view the different websites? As web sites in their own rights or all as one web site since they are hosted in the same web space although in different directories?

The sites are performing reasonably well SEO wise but I wonder if I ought to have them in separate hosting packages and placed in the web space root to further boost the organic ranking?

Any thoughts, ideas and suggestion appreciated!

Thanks
Ola

Google views them as domain based websites. The only reason to be concerned about IP's is if you are getting several links from sites on the same IP.

Absolutely!

And the other that you don't have too many domains registered on your name hosted on the same IP....Matt in one of his videos said that "It would be not easy to handle too many websites by a single person"...well naturally!
