Whatever tools helps you... Are you looking for a list of must-have tools? If so, what amount of search engine optimization are you doing? Link building? Adwords? Article writing? etc?

There is several good tools, I would suggest using adwords for keyword analysis reason i say that is because it shows you the exact impressions and gives you a better idea.

For example we used it on one of our high paying keywords which was "website design" we found out this keyword was getting over 1k plus search in 7 minutes, and were currently ranking in the top 7 for that keyword, was at number 4, but it alters and we are aiming for number 1. with many other competitive keywords.

probably the submission tool you looking at now is likely a spam posting tools.
