Thumbs up What is most effective?

Hi all,

I'm a little confused and would appreciate some collective feedback.

I work with a couple of SEO guys who have different views on the number of free web directory submissions that should be conducted to kick off an SEO plan.

One says 70 max to start then slowly build from there month on month (5-10 new submissions p/month)

The other says 1-300 p/month for the first few months until you achieve reasonable SERPs, then do less (5-10 p/month) to maintain and strengthen rankings.

Would welcome your thoughts on the matter, are both safe/acceptable for the SEs? What is most effective?

Thanks

It is true that if you do thousands you might drop big time, google will think it is unnatural, and it is unnatural hehe..

i think these amounts these 2 guys are mentioning are both acceptable. dont worry

It is up to you, but if you want, 20 to 50 per day is good.

Start and stop it. I did approximately 300 submissions 6 months ago for my new site. Today, I am ranked in top10 for 2 primary phrases. Naturally, I have done more SEO than ordinary link directories submissions. Link directories are just first step. Don't focus on it primarily and as Nomar wrote, many links in a short time may look unnatural.

I would advice to submit only to few free directories and get some quality ones from aviva, v7n, botw etc..

Because these free directories sell links to sites which are located in bad neighbourhoods (you can check their footer or sponsored listings).

I would rather submit my site to 5 paid than to 1000 free directories.

quite honestly you should let a professional handle it, unless your willing to put a lot of time into it to learn. There is some major directories you want to get listed in first .

1 - Are you building my website for google/yahoo/msn... or for humans?

If it's for humans, the the more submissions the best, free ones are better because it's free...huh
