Duplicated Content Website

Hi
I own a website a, but that site has a duplicated content site b( ealier i had a misconception that i will get more traffic with 2 sites).
Can you please suggest me, is it allowed or not.I have heard somewhere that search engines generally ban such sites.
One more thing, as i have 2 domain names with same content, so if i remove one site content but i redirect that site to my main site.
for example my main site is a and dupplicated site is b, so after removing the content from b, can i still redirect site b to a.. I mean is it allowed.
Your suggestions are hightly appreciable.

Thanksn and Regards,
Ashish

No it will not be banned but it will be penalized by Google by putting the duplicate content site in Supplementals.

If your site is in Supplemental Listings your SE ranking will be affected....

Surely you won't that to happen do you?

And redirection is ok so you have no worries about duplicating contents...

No, reword your contents because Google may put your site in supplementary index.

Duplicated content is ok...but not in the same site. If not, all those who publishes articles from Ezine submission sites would already been penalized. However, posting replicating content diminishes it's uniqueness and hence would not be ranked highly. :-)
