I can think of one more point: Build authority resources in niche domains.
The more I think of SEO, the more I'm convinced that one of the best investments any one with a web site can do is to create an authority page or section for a niche domain relevant to theirs.
What do I mean?
Let's say you are a trader of swimming pool accessories wishing to get more traffic. One of the most important SEO thingie is to get lots of high quality links. I'm sure there are no questions on that. The question is, how does a small site for a swimming pool accessories trader ever manage to get high quality links? I can hear folks saying social bookmarking, interesting Digg articles etc., but I doubt these can get you high quality back-links, from authority sites on swimming pools...
The most likely method for this site owner to get high quality backlinks will be to research on and decide on an interesting niche within or related to swimming pool which has (a) a good amount of info demand but no definitive guide, and (b) a number of widgets and tools and other useful aspects which can all be aggregated in one place...Now, if the site owner is able to come up with such a useful niche (it requires some work, agreed, but not too much for someone from the industry), and employs a suitable person to build this definitive guide - which could even be in the form of an extended directory for that niche - it is quite possible he can have a resource at this web site which is very unique, comprehensive and is extremely useful to folks in that domain. Essentially, an authority resource.
If the site owner starts using all the SEO link-building tools for this authority resource, he could well have over a dozen very high quality, authority back links in a month or so...
What do you think of this idea / suggestion. This is something I have discussed at my page on link building (link removed) as well...Would you consider this useful enough to be added to the 21?
Look fwd to your comments and feedback, thanks
