ok first off having more pagerank than your competitor doesn’t mean you will rank high than them for certain keywords. But it does mean that you will get more pages indexed in Google than your competitor and if you have a large website, it will keep you out of supplemental index....Ok this isn’t new it’s been like this for quite awhile, Pagerank for ranking purpose scores little in my books and shouldn’t really both you, but Pagerank for getting lots of pages indexed so that you can become the authority .. well that another game all together

I don't know how can you became authority with lot of pages in index.

You became authority when all hubs in your niche link to your domain.
Having lots of pages indexed, means you need more backlinks if you want to rank for anything.

I don't think having a high page rank gets you indexed any faster, theoreticaly it should, but it doesn't always work like that. Starting Point Directory has a very high page rank and was only getting indexed every two months where as a directory like v7n was getting indexed almost daily.

PageRank only helps you with getting spidered if your website is updated on a regular basis, it always helps with avoiding supplemental indexing.

Good PageRank + Regular Updates = Super fast indexing

Page rank is a measurements of an important page, as what Peter posted having a good pr are not means of having a good ranking in Google. it still on gaining quality backlinks and having a unique content that still weight on SERP.
