Submit Site To Search Engines

I read an article the other day about the number of people who still search for "meta tags", "search engine submission", etc.

Do you come across many people like this?

Has the SEO industry done a rubbish job at promoting itself?

It doesn't surprise me at all. Many clients whom I work for still have no idea what offpage SEO or backlinks are and it takes a lot of explaining and convincing to get them to realize it's not all about onpage stuff or keyword stuffing anymore. It's sad that many untechsavies still fall for seo advertisements that really don't lead to anything worthwhile and end up costing them alot and giving them no better results in the SERPS.

Question! How does an SEO submit the site to search engine?

My site is already visible in SE when I handle it. So I know really exactly know how to do it.

Is it through submission? submission to directories and other site?

Example: type "free site submission to yahoo" or google then you will see there where you will put the website url, description and keywords(meta tags if asked) then click the button submit!

Don't submit to SE. Let the SE crawls your site.. Instead of submitting to SEs submit to directories.. There are lots of directories around the net... Some of them are newly established...

Yes.

There are a lot of SEO outfits that still push this stuff. I used to get cold calls when I started my company, and if I hadn't already read an SEO book, I probably wouldn't have known any better.

'Search Engine Submission Services' still do exist as a google search would testify. Whats really frustuating is that these firms with bare minimum seo skills predate on the average layman client and in toto bring such a bad name to the seo industry. All this is a pointer to how important it is for business stakeholders to get involved in the whole process so that they dont get scammed...

Yes, there are some who still depends on on-page SEO. But I think both off-page and on-page are both important in SEO.

Submitting site to SE is not advisable, just wait for them to indexed your site. Links from forums is the best way to get indexed quickly.

Yeah, but why would they require submitting their sites in major SEs, even though they can have their sites appear in SEs even without search engine submission.
