As we are moving to a more tough google algo.. Social Media Optimization (or SMO) has become very important. If you don't know how to socialize (yourself and your website) then you are in a huge problem in the near future, as I personally feel that google can find any website that is going a slightest off the road to what google webmaster central tells!

So its better work today than be sorry tomorrow!

SEO + SMO = Huge huge success of your website and your business!

Social Media Optimization (or SMO) for a brief intro I could tell you that if you are liked by people and if your articles are liked in the social media websites then you have a very good chance of getting links to your website. Writing your own unique content gives you the power of building a credibility in your niche. Well I read long back "You wouldn't buy a thing from a stranger and from the person whom you know and trust would love to buy his products and services" and rightly so if I know that a person is credible I would do all the favors I could! Just remember any product that you told about to your friend.

So start making friends in your niche.

How to search them?
Google your primary keyword + "Blog" and "forums" there is a huge possibility that you could find them.

And write very very good articles!

Well here are few things that you should consider when going to socialize yourself!

1. Write articles.
2. Discover something in your niche. (Found an insiders secret share them with everybody).
3. Invent something in your niche. (Invent some useful thing for you customers).
4. Write web scripts to help your niche customers.
5. Give away freebies! (Eveyrbody loves it).
6. Organize contests.
7. Take part in contests.
8. Organize non-profit issues (like charity etc)
9. Fund a charity.
10. Help in any way you can!
11. etc that puts your words out!

It was a small list but very handy. Following only few of them would result in huge success.

Yeah, SMO is good platform to generate traffic and to gain popularity, combining it with SEO will yield very good results.

Just an another expression.... already all seo's do work on this also.. to submit articles to different kinds of websites and network....

I think all have already started SMO instead the term is new for some... but they must be at some point have doing so...

Its not about customers you see...it's about visitors..your website viewers!

The viewers will then decide to become your customers or not!

SMO as a concept doesnt require google to change its algo. SMO is a way of getting more traffic and links form peers. That doesnt challenge the fundamentals on which google algo is based. Better SMO means better organic traffic and better SERP by more inbound links!

I doubt about inbound links as most of the SN sites have "No follow".

IBLs not from social network sites but from the people who write about your article on their site/blog. Well could there be anything more natural than this!

And btw nofollow does pass link juice
