backlinks??

i have read a lot about 'getting backlinks'.. but how useful it is in getting high PR? kinda confuse.. im a newbie..

PR is related to backlinks - in general terms the greater the number of backlinks the greater the PR. It's slightly more complicated than that because some backlinks have more PR weight than others. The PR algorithm is also being refined all of the time, so it's not really possible to say how many links are needed for each PR. Some backlinks, those with the rel="nofollow" attribute, can't pass any PR at all. For a rough guide check this article.

Backlinks are links into your site from other sites, there are lots of theories on how many you need and what is classed as a 'good' and 'bad' backlink.

The importnat part is makign sure the content on the page (and site) linking to your page is relevant, ie getting a site that sells kids clothing to your link to your ski apparel site would be better than a dog food site.

Also keep an eye on what text they use in the link text.
using 'click here' is an obvious mistake, but the words used need to be relevant to both the page they are on and the page they are linking to.

My dog loves meaty chunky dog food for breakfast

is better than

My dog loves meaty chunky dog food for breakfast

and both are better than

My dog loves meaty chunky dog food for breakfast - click here

Easy, PR is a tool used by google to measure backlinks.

If you are seeing a person... shoot by 10000 people and you if you are passing by you will wait and see that 10000people are shooting to one person...

The same case with the search engines.... i hope the story explains itself about the backlinks...and how they have affect search engines

PR is related to backlinks. google counts backlinks. so if your website has more backlinks then its hight chance for your website to get higher PR.

backlinks: its mean links pointing to your site, as much links pointing to your site higher the PR of your site.

PR is based on the quality backlinks of the site. Even the site has less backlinks it can have higher Pr depending on the quality of links in the site.

Links are the major factor of seo, I'd have to say it has to do with 90 percent of your rankings if not 95 percent, content optimization and site structure has hardly anything to do with it any more, seo is about links

You must not only consider lots of links, or just a backlink, if your targeting to rank high in SE you must have "More Quality Backlinks", this will help your site very much!
