G Analytics

Hi all,

Have anybody here using Google analytics for websites.

I am using it for my two websites and have found much variations regarding visits and hits in stats from the other stat counter which is Awstats.

what u like to say guys ?

Awstats analyzes the apache logs so it think it should do a better job than Analytics.

Analytics is great to have all your information organized and also to be used with Adwords but i don't think it's 100% accurate.

Awstats is the always the real deal as it pulls its data straight from the web daemon. On the other hand, I cannot guarantee for the accuracy of Google Analytics.

Personally I often use a combination of these two for best reliability and comparison purposes.

You are absolutely right.

but I prefer, Google Analytics. There are many reason for that.

1. No use of our webspace to store script / state data.
2. Organized data and full stat
3. More people (third party) give priority to Google Analytics.
because site owner can change data of Awstate/ other state but can't change data of Google Analytics.

Analytics is the best, actually I just wrote a post on this the other day at my blog, and the functionality it offers. I'd choose it over awstats any day.

Why would you ever have to choose one or the other?

I agree with Mihai. The combination of the two is the best of both worlds.

most certainly the combination of both is great! But quite honestly I recommended Google analytics over anything any day, awstats is very very inaccurate it will say your getting 2000 uniques a day and come to find out your getting 500

The difference that you have given as example is very wide... I doubt it and I never had this kind of difference in real case.

Yes! that's why I am using both - G analytics and Awstats.

I haven't tried Awstats, is this free? I use Google analytics and statcounter.

It's an open source program that you install on your server.

Analytics don't show the detailed stats... Unlike statcounter gives more detailed information than that of Google Analytics...

I would agree with most people above. Use a combine software of both Analytics and Awstats. They provide quite a good statistical analysis of your site's traffic.

I haven't try the Awstats but I try using the Google Analytics and Statcounter which give accurate results.

I do not think Google Analytic is showing all hits. I had some serious problem because of Google analytic. They other analytic tools are giving me almost same results but Google..

btw: I do see huge difference between raw log stats and google analytic..

Please define "huge difference". Are you seeing a difference of 400% like previously mentioned here in this thread ?

For me I recommend more G Analytics than awstats, for my experience, analytics returns more reliable results than awstats.
