I think there's a bit of truth to Peter's positioning postulation. But johnon.com's speculation that it's a link baiting price range is probably true as well.

I guess the rule of thumb is that so long as the ROI is good, then the pricing is justified.

"Keyword Research Package" at 2K is amusing. I can just imagine a list generated from Wordtracker - formated with a nice font
Whoa, the price range is too much isn't it? What's the guarantee that it is worthy? They don't mentioned whether that price is applicable for small or large company...

I think they should have discount for that...

We charge, $250.00 retainer up front - I call it a set up fee.

$100 an hour for consulting and on site SEO.

$400pm minimum link building budget is a must.

It's getting to the point now though where I can only juggle so many web marketing projects at once. I guess thats what makes the price go up right?

A couple years into it now, I don't take projects that are less than $400 a month. Another thing that has made things easier is clients have to sign on with a 6 month contract for link building services. If they really want increased traffic through search, its easy to sell once they see what you have done for yourself and the other clients you work with. Its also essential to implement traffic analytics so you can really demonstrate to the client how much more traffic they're getting if their increased sales don't already show it. Bar graphs are cool when you get 6 months worth of data, especially if you can get traffic to increase every month along with sales. Thats the kind of stuff that helps out with bonuses and keeping your customer your client for the long term.

Eventually prices are going to have to go up if we stay busy. There's a large demand for businesses wanting cheap seo services that can only afford $100 a month. I have to tell them "no, I'm sorry we have our maximum amount of projects right now." The small projects just aren't worth it anymore because of the set up involved and monthly communications.
