SEO Test Accomplished
Well there was an SEO test going around. Where my blog tried to rank for buy cheap ****** as Matt Cutts and John Pozadzides' blog did rank and John's site still rank right now!
My site is just below his site currently #9!
Thanks to everybody who took part in this test! (My heartiest thanks to Zap and Costin, thank you guys, you rock! ).
Take care
Manish

Anyway I have read about this experiment myself and it looks pretty interesting. Basically all that matters is domain authority (aka PR and domain age) to rank high for "off-topic" keywords ?

Yeah, but you may find that it doesn't have that much high PR and age to support (only an year old domain). Well the most important thing here is a mixture of everything. IBLs + Authority!

Pretty clever link bait, did you get a lot of people to link to you?

So, does it really mean that link age is not that important?

On the contrary, domain age and quality IBLs make up domain authority which is probably the most important.

That IMO is a huge factor here, the authority of the domain. The blog seems to have it. I'm sure the extra backlinks have helped as well. And as we all know, Google likes blogs a lot. Once again, congrats. But don't give up your career for becoming a ****** salesman. Even though I could get it really cheap for you in Costa Rica. :p

It is always impressive to see how some niche competitive terms can be turned upside down by such tricks

Once Google assigns trust to you, they take your word for it, even if you don't really offer anything the visitors are looking for.

I think I missed something ...
is one year [1 year was mentioned as age on that page] enough for the domain to gain enough reputation?

I think even 6-9 months is enough ageing if you have enough quality inbound links.

Easiest way is to see how you rank relative to others.

Yep, how you rank in the search engines is the ultimate baromter of how much trust your site has. Sites that rank very well have higher trust than sites that don't rank very well.
