Duplicate content, PRweb - want an opinion?

I'd like an opinion.

Everyone says that it's good to put up content with links back to your site in places such as ezine or prweb...

BUT, surely google is WISE to duplicate content and they must discount the value of those links pretty heavily?

What do you think?

Google simply filter and display the best relevant results to the users. Since it does not penalize the site, I don't see an issue here

As far as I know Google will not penalize you heavily for duplicate content, but at the same time it will not allow your site to gain ranking as you expected. Another words, try to avoid the duplicates. There are so many ways to check duplicates, especially for Google. You could try it by yourself, try copyscape system.

IMO, Google won't penalize you that much but it will not also give your site a good ranking.

You probably won't get heavyweight link quality, but you probably won't get dinged for duplicate content either. The more you can publicise your site and get your information out there, the better.

If you are publishing duplicate content in your press releases it is fairly logical to not expect great SERPs improvements or anything. You get what you work/pay for and Google is pretty smart and accurate when it comes to checking of content.
