My SEO level
Hello all. Well I’ve been reading these forums for a while and been taking advice and using it. So far I have
Submitted my URL to:
V7N directory
Aviva directory (only recently so Google doesn’t know yet)
hub roi
And about 12 other free directories.
Getting news articles and linking them to Digg.
I recently stopped Google ad words because it’s like chucking money away if it’s not done correctly (but i will pick that up again later).
I have raised my rank on the search engine significantly and in some area I am number one for a few keywords (poor keywords).
My question is what can I do to improve my rank on better keywords and get a higher PR.

I see you have basically done pretty much some off-seo for your site and i will presume that you have already worked on on-site seo, have used Keywords in the title of your page, used h1, keywords (but not stuffing) in alt images, used bold in your content for the keywords you target, you have made a scheme of in-site linking one page and another.
Next step is...more inbound links...

Google rank
First of all, and this is very important, you have to check manually or by some SEO tools if your content with keywords is relevant to your major meta tags. Then you have to check on your site if you are using your targeted keywords within urls. Also try to use your targeted keywords as anchor text on your links. Actually, there are lots of other technics, but try to do what you have to do first. Hope it will help.
Have a great day,
Peter

Title tags - don't flood with keywords, but you can put one of your main keywords in the title.
Header tags - No more than ONE h1 tag per page. I have a little rule I like to use, for every <h#> tags don't use any more than # of them. Use a keyword in your h1 tag, but don't flood it.
File name - Use a keyword in your file name i.e. this-is-my-keyword.php
Body - Use a keyword or two in your text - but do not flood this and do not use css-styled header tags (so they look like normal text) in the body.
As far as keywords go - if you want to find some quality ones check out www.wordtracker.com. You have to get a membership, but its worth the money.

If you were to do more on-site optimization, focus on the title tags. I agree with SEOptimzer that keep the keywords as few as possible - less is more.
Inbound links are extremely important to Google. Sometimes one good link can get you to the top in no time.

The problem is I believe I have done most of that. My keywords are relevant, my tags are all good, my on site seo is done, I have 3 directory links (good links). BUT I still cant get my heading keyword.
I was checking my ranking today under my main keyword and I couldn’t find my self… but that usually happens when I sign up to a new directory Google found my Aviva listing.
If you want to check out what I have done go to my profile and go to my site.
I think you will be surprised. Maybe I need more directory links or something.

I think you should consider some on-page SEO with fresh content that has been written with SEO, keyword density and also reasder friendliness in mind. After every part of your website has been treated like this you should do some massive, intelligent link building campaign for deep links.

Alone this is nothing, you need to have the entire view of on-page SEO considering which keywords to choose, what densities to use in order to make it both search engine and reader friendly, etc.

Build links in higher PR sites, directory submissions are not enough.

Agreed.
Some search engine may penalize your website when they found same keyword more than two or three, they may considered it is spam or something. Your keyword and descriptions does not really match. Try to scan some keywords from the body text. Pick it as one of your keyword and descriptions. Make it bold if possible. I have done similar mistakes in the past. Try to do what John Scott told you. Anyway, the above advice I took from my IBP.
