How to choose good keyword phrase?

Hi,
I have a question about choosing keyphrase to SEO.
I have 2 4-word-keyphrase "a b c d" and "e f g h". I looked up in Wordtracker and see they are searched 100 times in google daily.
I did 2 searchs in Google with quote ("") and these are the results:
"a b c d": 4 competitors.
"e f g h": 20 competiors.
So, could I say that "e f g h" is easier to compete than "a b c d". Is there any more factor to decide which keyphrase is better to SEO?
Pls give me some advice.
Thanks a lot.

based on my experience it depends.. sometimes even if the kw with many competitors.. you can rank faster... coz not all of them are optimizing their site or competing those kw/s...

I think you should aim "e f g h" word with more competitors.
you may also target misspelled keywords

You must know the popularity or the search volume of your keyword/keyphrase. Then determine the competitors using your keyword/keyphrases.
