People who are good at SEO - Please, HELP ME! I am in DESPAIR
Hi everyone, I am Olga, new to SEO, am working as a web promoter for 2 weeks ( I have never been engaged in this type of activity before) and it seems I have very big problems, I can't find the way out, I am in despair and I am completely lost - feel like killing myself for such a mistake!
I read in a SEO book that to bring visitors to your site you can post a weird message on forums, and place the url of the site you are promoting, and people will read this f..ing message and visit your web. I have done, placed a message with adult content, very bizarre and foolish and now I am suffering from my own foolishness. I found out then that the site I am promoting can be banned for such matter. What is to be done? Or there is no way out? I feel sick from making such a mistake....
OK, OK. One step at a time, these things usually seem worse than they really are.
Tell me if any of this is wrong:
You are promoting a site, which is not adult.
You put a message on a lot of forums which said 'xxx porn adult stuff click here" and linked to the site you're promoting.
Yes, this could be very mildly problematic, but you say it's only been two weeks so if you contact the moderators or forums owners, tell them your mistake and ask them to remove your messages, most of it shouldn't be registered.
It's also possible that some of the forums don't pass on link power so that could help.
Start by contacting the places where you left the messages, that's a good start. If you didn't do this too many times I don't see it being a problem.
The thing to remember is, it is very VERY difficult to harm a site by linking to it, however you link to it. If it was damaging, competitors would be doing it to each other all the time. No, the big trouble-maker is where you link OUT from your site, be very careful about where you link to from your site, but links going IN are something you shouldn't worry that much about. I don't think there's any chance of you getting banned.
You may rank for some weird mix of 'porn and your site topic' keywords though - could be embarrassing.

Reason: adding something
The message I put was somethink like this (it is a stupid message, I agree, am embarrassed by it, but nevertheless - I am promoting a site concerning wedding invitations): I fell in love with a SUMo coach-woman, I am going to marry her, but I am a transvestite and she doesnt know about it - what should I do? and then - visit the site www. for more details - bla-bla-bla. I agree, a stupid idea of me. And the more stupid is that I don't remember on which forums I put it (I got many replies on the weird message I placed - the one was Aha, you are "black SEO:, I will ban you") - from that message I could hardly burst into tears.
Thanks Rankenstein for Your help, I really need someone to consult with, as I am 24 years old, worked as a translator all my life, and now i am mastering this new activity)

That would probably be from a forum administrator, meaning he'll ban you from the forum....but so what? If you don't remember the forums you did it on, they're not so important to you. Apologise maybe, but move on. Yeah, you made a mistake but you know it, and more importantly, you've almost immediately had what I consider the most important lesson in SEO: it's as much about knowing what NOT to do, as knowing what to do.
In most of the forums, subscription is by default. So you will get emails if someone replies to it. In this way will be easy to trace out the posts. Anyways as mentioned by RANK... it isn't that bad what you thought. So next time it will be a wise action to double check what you read before implementing it. There are quite niche blogs and sites which talks about white hat SEO. Such as seobook, seochat, seomoz etc. ATB
thanks Rankenstein, thousand times, you calmed me down ooof, I feel relieved. Nothing interesting about the sumo coach - i just wrote it as a question - i am a transvestite wishing to marry a sumo coach, but she doesn;t know my secret (that i am a trans), what should i do? )
I see You are good at SEO, are You promoting something too?) Or who are You? a webmaster?
I wouldn't say it's hard exactly, but it takes time, it's rather repetitive and you have to be confident. You also have to know what a site's chances are to rank well - some site owners you can tell there's no reason why they can't rank for almost anything they want in their area of business. Others you have to tell that they should set their sights lower. Depends on the site, and the site owner's desire to make necessary changes.
Well said Rankenstein. Totally agreed.
But it's the most difficult thing for most of the professionals to get it done - onpage optimization, unless they have full authority for the particular site.
and I wonder - if I use relevant content forums to promote my web, can i place hyperlink to my web in a message or i will be banned too and have problems?
