base from my own experience yes... it really helps, you can check your backlinks, and base from my own experience majority of it are from forum posting and aside from that as x3mario said more knowledge, friends and where you can express what is in your mind... where you can find people that are good in debate.

Its helpful to posting forums b'coz that provides backlinks to your site. When you provide signature after posting in forums, your signature must contain link to your website, so that it can provide backlink to ur website.

of course it does, page rank 0 does not mean anything, it just mean that page does not have many incoming links yet and remember your tool bar only an estimation on the real page rank on google side. as for linking, you should consider their relevancies rather than just page rank.

a high page rank does not always have high ranking. There is a free ebook Search engine myth exposed which clear this concept, you may download it through that link.
