This was the first hire to go bad in 2 years. It could have cost more but it's still something to learn from. I have a true SEO specialist that works around the year on some sites anyways so it's not I am without. I was just trying this guy out. I learned a lot from this forum and I brought my one site up from nothign just listening to the group.

Yeah, I work with some people from India that are always on time and provide a great service to me. However, for our web designs we purchased them in the states because its easier to work with people that are local.

That thing only makes me thing more about making a web project that let people complain about service providers. that way you can just put the scammers details and then everyone else could see it.
yellow page with a twist.

Yes, outsourcing SEO services for me would be my last resort if I really don't have time to do it myself. There are lots of threads here on SEO and you should try reading from them to improve your knowledge.

Good tips for SEO hunters. There are lots of scammers in the net and after you give the money, they would just run.

Always ask for references. Call them.....
SEO is just part of Online marketing - results is what you want.
so if your site is - http://www.militarychallengecoin.net/ then you don't have a site yet. You have a shopping cart - where's the meat? What's to optimise?
you do get some standings from the cat **** pie effect, (unique keyword), but you need to get your targeted group there - make a website for them!
The guy was a fool for taking the project on, he should have told you right off the bat, you need a site first.

Wow, I don't have a site? You're kidding right? You didn't look around, I have at least 50 articles, blogs, forum, and much more. I have time and money and I am able to do lots myself...but sometimes I don't know everything and need a little help. V7N has helped a great deal but I don't do this for a living so I outsource for help. However saying I don't have a site is ignorant in my book. It's much more than a shopping cart...in fact the shopping cart is the least of the site. What more would you want from my site?
This completely off the subject and why you would attack my site is unknown...but I suggest you start actually looking through my site before you come to that conclusion.

No one is attacking your site. I do online marketing for some large corps, your site is just back-asswards, you just don't know it.
It would take a major overhaul to get you where you need to be.
You just don't understand even the basics, it's not your fault - you're not a pro.
All the SEO tricks in the world won't help a poorly constructed site.
Here's a clue - If you design your site correctly, less than 10% of your visitors will ever see the home page..... your homepage's main purpose is to help your site get registered properly.

ignorant - I could be, but wrong in this case - nope.

SEO does not always require a budget if you would do it yourself. Here's a golden rule we should consider before opting to outsource : "If you need anything done, do it yourself". But ofcourse there are always exceptions

Its all in the portfolio. This is the gold for any seo. Also Adam how did u win a case for any seo work from paypal? I , not too long ago bought a site off of someone on another webmaster forum. They said the site was doing a certain amou7nt in adsense and when i bought the site through paypal from them and got it transferred to me, it wasnt doing 1/10th of what he said it was doing.
When i asked for my money back he told me to transfer the site first, so i did, but he never gave me the money back, so now for the past 8 months hes sitting pretty with my money and his website back in his hands.
When i called paypal they said they couldnt do anything about it because it wasnt a physical product.
Sorry to hear that u got ripped off, but my seo is also from india and he has always come through for his clients. In fact its been him that has been ripped off from his western clients, so there are people that ripp off other from everywhere and there are good seo's in each country. My first ripoff was froma web developer from my own state of california

Wow that is harsh. I would be a bit upset as well. That is why I honestly believe that if you are going to purchase a site these days you need to do this through a third party that provides an escrow service that keeps your money there until everything is verified and as the seller says it is. If it is not you simply transfer back the site and the seller must pay the transaction fee. You in return receive your money back and then move on.

Escrow is the best way without a doubt. I am not upset over my experience at all. Sure it sucks I lost a little money but I would rather warn others about this guy before he has a chance to take your money.
I won my Paypal dispute becuase my guy never responded to it...I probably wouldn't have if he responded. Either way if he ever puts money in that account (doubt it) it will go directly to me. For now I just keep going with what I have and I am still doing very well so no worries.
