I use traffic exchanges. They involve some work but if used right they can get alot of traffic to your site. The only problem is the traffic is usally not targeted.

write an ebook with links to your site with a topic related to your site. sell it on ebay for 99 cents to cover costs with resell rights so any buyer can resell it with the only exception he has to keep it like it is.
