Content Nonsense

I don't know if the speakers have been quoted out of context, but some of this advice is pure nonsense.

http://www.toprankblog.com/2007/08/s...earch-engines/

Quote:
Heather suggests no more than 250 words of content per page. This, obviously, can increase as long as you have legitimate and informative content.
I don't see any of the search search engines favouring page length as a major ranking factor.

Secondly, we can increase the length so long as we're being "informative"? So, if an article sucks, keep it under 250 words?

Articles need to be as long, or as short, as they need to be. If what you're writing is interesting, then people will keep reading.

Really, the key is to be interesting, rather than worrying about arbitrary word lengths.

Kind of makes you wonder whether her speech has changed since 5 year ago, when content actually did matter.

It's like Readers Digest telling J. K. Rowling to keep her Harry Potter novels under 250 pages, unless you sell 325 million copies.

Speaking about getting tired, listen to his/her recommendation for keeping title length under 75 characters
Quote:
Make sure the title is no more than 75 characters long, because both search engines and human readers will stop reading after a while.
