StumbleUpon can be a great source of traffic. But how do you boost your chances of getting seen?

One way is to have content that appeals to the top 50 users.

These statistics dispel the notion (at least for top users) that StumbleUpon users are more interested in pictures and that you have to go elsewhere if you have any other kind of content. In fact, content not related to photography was viewed and liked 10 times more than than photos. Furthermore, we see that the StumbleUpon community is older than that of Digg but not as old as that of Slashdot or Netscape, and in spite of the fact that women outnumber men online, the male-to-female ratio on StumbleUpon is nearing 2-1.

Whenever I write a new article on my blog I stumble it, and usually within a few hours I'll have a few hundred visitors. True, most of them are surfers, but according on my stats they stay more than long enough to at least read the article, and it's not like the traffic is completely untargeted.

I've got a LOT of traffic via stumbleupon (particularly for one blog entry based on a funny photo) but I must say it's hard to find more adblind traffic than stumbleupon... it can make your traffic go through the roof but dont expect to get many clicks or sales from it.

by a lot i mean about 10,000 uniques a day for a few days...

even a month later i was getting close to 1000 a day... and some days it would spike up to 2 or 3000.

but then my host went down (for about 36 hours) and that seems to have hurt that whole deal quite a bit. (a lot of people seeing a blank page and voting it down, i imagine.)
