Story about an unintentional link bomb. Worked a treat...

Although Google stated that Googlebombing would become very difficult in the future, SERPs show still examples of pretty good results. Most of them are intentional, some are by accident. This not only shows that link bombing still works (I never thought it didn’t work anymore, btw), but it also proves that anchor text is really important (like we didn’t know that) and it also is an indication that footer links aren’t as worthless as some say they are (nice to see some proof again).

I didn't find the results yet... I read that thread and posted a seomegacorp.com/blog/2007/is-link-bombing-really-over post on my blog... but what I found till now is that it still doesn't rank for that term rather that post comes up! Had it been link bombing on Google that main page should have come...

Link Bombing is a good way to get your site banned, of course it still works but for how long 1 day? 1 month then kapoop.

How can link bombing get your site banned? I think it would get those links devalued but not the entire site banned. Unethical competitors would be doing this to their competition then. I hear all the time that this or that will get you banned. Does anyone have any solid proof of any site being banned because of any inbound links?

I’m not talking about invisible text or any other on page black hat stuff, just off page (third party sites).

The irony is that the target site wasn't participating in the link bomb. The link bomb was due to a typo.

Hence the reason Google would need to be careful about banning target sites.

The point is that this site http://www.owsd.org/ was ranked #2. It shows how Google's rhetoric, and the rhetoric of many SEOs is questionable.

-The phrase the site ranked for didn't appear on the target page (or site) at all
-The phrase only appeared in an inbound link
-That inbound link was in the footer
-That inbound link was site-wide

It will be logical that a site will be banned only for something on which the webmaster has direct control. Theoretically a webmaster has no control on a third party that is linking to his website.
