SEO Isn't Hard
So says this newbie article:

It is and it isn't 
SEO is pretty easy if you're going after the long tail - just include a few words and get linked up.
However, it's pretty damn hard if you're competing in the PPC space (pills, porn, casinos) or any space where SEO is prevalent, and the money is flowing.
Entirely different ballgame, young grasshopper.....

It is not that difficult to rank #1 for few rarely used keywords and to get some occasional visitors as well - if this is what SEO is all about then it must be damn easy. Otherwise, SEO is tough - damn tough.

Peter is right, SEO is tough on competitive keywords (such as the mentioned keywords by Peter). What i find hard in SEO is not to reach the goal because we can reach that with hard work and lots of time, the hard part I find in seo is to maintain the achieved position in the SERPs.

Little harsh to bash the poor guy. I thought the article was relevant to most webmasters and the article does contain correct if very, very limitted advise.

thanks for the mention. Im not talking about going after keywords such as that with competition so high. To start ranking for phrases, certain keyterms etc it isnt. By doing a few steps like I mentioned it's quite easy to start ranking for relevant and somewhat 'difficult' keywords.

according to our stats its closer to 2000 per month, but no it isnt enough. I've just begun to tackle certain keywords and phrases, as mentioned above I am newer at this, and our blog really isn't that old

Just stating a fact. SEO is easy, until you come into a keyword area chock full of SEOs.
It isn't true to say all SEO is easy, but if anyone thinks it is, please contact me and I'll hire them to get a few * PPC* sites to #1

I would say that an seo that helped to put together a search engine from scratch has a distinct advantage over other seo's because he would truely understand how an se works from the ground up. That is what my seo has done )
