I was given the link to copyscape today - it is excellent - i was also amazed at what i found - the whole of my home page text has been used somewhere and so i now need to go and get that removed - brilliant

No wonder my home page is in supplemental.

A fab tool imo.

Anne have you sent a DMC take down letter to the person's webhost yet? Sorry to hear this happened to you.

The best thing would likely be to ask them to remove it. If they don't then you may have to go another route. Good luck.

No, i didn't know that i could - the thing is, the site that has the info i think has added it in good faith rather than stealing it for their own personal use - it is on a sort of info site and so normally i'd be really grateful but as my site is in dire straights right now, i need to ask them very nicely to remove it.

I am going to take a better look when i get a moment because i have an awful awful feeling that i may have added some info myself BUt i'd have never copied my own home page - well i don't think i would

Normally when i add to sites like that i just add a bit of text and my strap line which, is not on my website so i am struggling to think why i would have added all that info to this site.

There will be other sites featured on it too i am sure so i am going to see if there are a load of different websites home pages featured and if there are, then i may well kick up a fuss but at this stage i will simply ask politely for it to be removed.

I am sure that they will although i may just ask them to change it - i have now changed my home page considerably - although it was working well before - i may have to think up a completely new home page text - i am not sure that anyone reads it anyway.

Just hope i manage to get out of the pit.

That is excellent info - i added a few of the copyscape banners to my website yesterday - should i remove them, are they only suitable for blogs?

My way of thinking was that anyone not familiar with copyscape - as i wasn't until yesterday might not realise that the banners are just a warning, they might consider that there is more to it and leave content alone.
