Submit to directories or exchange links. If you want more traffic, it is either from social bookmarking sites or from link baits.

Marketing your website (Or getting it into the eyes of the potential consumer) is a key player in E-business success rates. Not only are marketing campaigns ongoing, then need to be executed in a professional manor as to not be construed as spam or gibberish.
There are thousands of ways to market yourself Via the Internet ranging from free, cost effective, budget wise, to High end expensive. Keep in mind that free is free for a reason. While arguments of whether they work or not continue, our research shows that they do, however they normally require 10x the work effort for only 1% results.
With anything in life it takes Dedication, Determination, & Discipline along with self motivation in order to breed success!
What you should be focusing on is "QUALITY TRAFFIC", traffic that self-Converts (Buys something).
Keep in mind that you need a quality site to produce quality traffic. (Viable original content that people want to link to & revisit -Organic-).
Once you have a quality site up & running (Or think you do) - Ask yourself these questions again to make sure:
* What do I offer that is Unique & Niche in my competitive market? (Originality is essential here)
* Would I Buy from Me? (If not, rethink your business plan)
* Do I talk about me & my company all the time on my site or do I use "YOU" allot to get potentials involve? (Its important to get the potential involved)
* Am I blatantly trying to sell a product or service (High Pressure) or am I trying to educate the consumer about the product / service (Low pressure)? (Human nature is to put a wall up when we think someone is trying to sell us something - Educate them & release the pressure a bit.)
* What is my competition doing? (In order to compete you will have to know what your competing against.)
The above is just a Portion of what you need to ask yourself in order to make sure you have something of Quality to offer the potential consumer. I'm sure it gives you the basic Idea though right?
I wouldn't waist any money on advertising or marketing until you have that down, at least (Might as well throw the money in a fire).
We recommend hiring a professional, however if you have No to Low budgets then free may be your only option, Just don't expect High end results. You get out of it what you put into it!
If you're just wanting a list of options you can do while you're building better quality, here's a short list
* Blogging
* Community profiles
* Link exchanges
* Banner exchanges
* Classified ads
* Directory listings
* Targeted Product/Service pages linked in your main site footer (Doorways)
* guest books
* Paid (PPC) - Pay Per Click, (PPS) - Pay Per Sale, (PPI) - Pay Per Impression, Etc....
* Paid Banner ads, Listings, Submissions, Etc...
* (SEO) Search Engine Optimization
* And MORE!
Hope this helped, I wish you Luck....

Directories and social bookmarking sites are one of the best ways to get traffic for the sites. But images indexed in Google images may also help get traffic to your site. High paying keywords, presentable design, and a good quality content may grab high amount of traffic for your site.

If you site sells products and you want more traffic, a good way to gain traffic and links is to join up with an affiliate program like commission junction. People sign up to display your ads on their web sites, creating more traffic to you, and more links.

1. Directory Submission. The web has hundreds, if not thousands of link directories. Search for the most popular directories and submit your site. Beware, some directories charge for submitting your link but offer very little value in return. If you are going to pay for a link submission, make sure the site has a high Google PR and garners a lot of traffic.
2. Reciprocal Linking. Exchange links with other popular sites to increase the number of inbound links you receive. There is a good deal of debate in Internet circles today about the validity of reciprocal linking strategies. As long as the link you are receiving is of equal or greater quality to the link your giving, than the concept of reciprocal linking is still valid.
3. Article Submission. Create quality content and distribute it across the web. There are many article directories that offer content to webmasters and allow for mass distribution. The benefit of article submission is that when you submit your article you include and "About the Author" section. This area of your article is posted each time your article appears on a distributed website automatically building links back to your site. The more valuable the article, the more distribution you receive.
4. Social Posting Tools. We all know the power of social networks. Use tools like SocialPoster and others whereby you register and submit your site or article to social networks. The benefit of posting to these sites is that others may recognize and acknowledge your submission, resulting in higher placement. With higher placement comes more links and more link popularity.
5. Press Releases. Have some news to share? A new product? A website launch or perhaps the results of your latest online survey. Visit sites like PRweb and find a distribution option for you. Press releases are pushed out to hundreds if not thousands of site that might run your release. Of course, make sure that you imbed a link back to your website.
6. Blogging. If you have your own blog or post comments on someone else's blog, don't be afraid to mention something of value relating to your site. Perhaps you can point to a Gadget your offer, free services, or an ebook you're offering. Blogging is a powerful tool and easy to implement. If you don't have a blog, start one. You can have your own blog in just a few minutes with today's online providers like Blogger or WordPress.
