Hi

Thanks for suggesting. Since I am little new to these things. I want to know What are supplement pages and How do I know if they are supplement pages? So I better know where to post my signature link so that I can get inbound links to have better results?

And about the 1-3 liners, So I understand that the posts in the threads acts like content of the webpage where Google decides the Quality of the posts? Less number of words, Less Quality declare by Google?

Thanks and hope you will explain kindly.

Just like any web page, a search engines mathematical algorithm (E.g. Google, Yahoo, Etc..) spiders the page & takes several things in account from it to go towards the overall equation (E.G. Content, Anchors, Keyword Density, Uniqueness, Etc..).

If a page is mathematically deemed duplicate, unrelated, spammy, Etc.. it will then be placed in a supplemental (Omitted) index. I will use Googles Omitted as an example here:
  1. ok, do a search in google for the term "Click Here"
  2. click the Similar pages link for the first listing "Adobe - Adobe Reader Download - All versions"
  3. scroll to the bottom & then go to the Very LAST index page
  4. Scroll to the bottom of that last page & click OMITTED pages
  5. You are now looking at pages that went into the Supplemental/Omitted index

Google: In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the (#) already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.

Keep in mind that backlinks may take a while to show up in a backlink tracking tool.

If the forum owner enables "nofollow" on the signature links they won't count.

There is a plugin in Firefox which highlights all the "nofollow" links but I can't remember what it's called.

Update: It's called SearchStatus and you can download it here.

If you post 100 messages, you will get backlinks all right, but all links
with identical text & url. What is the weightage of 100 identical links
from the same domain from Google's viewpoint is another question.
