Almost same thread on Backlink vs. Content..

Content can generate both traffic and backlinks. You can also generate traffic through links but do you think they will go back if they see non-sense content.
The good thing in quality content is your not just gaining a traffic but a reader.

Both are important...but the first thing that we actually do/create is the content so we must have a good content first before we can gather good backlinks.

Both of them are important, but if you have good links but bad/dupe content, well you should be careful. Content comes hand in hand with Links. To gain strong links, your content must be good. IMHO

Yeah, Content is a King but you still need to gathered related links to maintain and improved your rankings. You need to create quality and interesting content first, then link building would be your next job to improved.

Content is always first. You make your sites for people's consumption and not entirely for SE's and bots consumption. As what SKGOLD mentioned, these bots doesn't care if your site has good or poor content as they are merely judging your site based on the link back your site has and how optimized it is based on SEO. Conversion depends on people who visits your site and the content/service/product you offer your vistors and not Search Engines or BOTS

For me both of them are important.. But i pay particular on content first because we all know that web page content is very important not only in the eyes of search engines but also in the perception and eyes of your viewer/searchers. The more good and unique content you have the more visitors to your site will keep on coming back.. Building links are needs to be follow after having good content because the search engines will also look at the links in somewhat of the same way, and they will give a good ranking to the page because they feel it’s pertinent to what the person who searched for the information is actually looking for..

Links..
You can well rank with average content and good, strong links!
But you won't rank high for competitive queries with mid quality links and excellent content..

I think links are more important... but then again, people may not want to link to your site if you have poor or non relevant content... ...if you are buying the links its a different story altogether.

Content and links are complementary and both are essential, but content is more important. If you have good content, links will surely follow, but not vice versa.

Hey there,

I would say content is more important.

Without content, a crawler or user would find a link to your site and check it out. If there is no content, the crawler or user would just leave.

You have to give them a reason to stay

You have to give them a reason to come back.

Content is the reason.

Sincerely,
Travis Walters
