Which is Important Link or Content
hi...Guyz. after i read one article i got a little bit confuse, since I'm newbie. That's why I open this discussion for us to know. What is really most important Link or Content. Well as far as I know content is more important rather than link because if there's no good content there is no link. But if you're site has a good content i think link doesn't matter at all. Any thought???

"CONTENT IS KING"......
I suppose if you just have a blank page with a 2 liner, 1 buy it now link and Absolutely "NO" intentions of the 3R's - Repeat / Referral / Retention - Then a BlackHat Linking Campaign would be the #1 choice.
However in the real business world the 3R's are essential to the long term Growth / Expansionism / Success. Thus Viable organic WhiteHat CONTENT!
I don't think it could be more Obvious - Content #1 - Linking #2 -
As long as you Have Unique / Quality content, people will organically link to you. & as we all know, an Organic link is 2 times more valuable than a classifieds / directory / or forum Link.
Do I think Inbound linking is less important than content? No, It's a Key element in the success rate of any website along with several other elements.
I'm just old fashioned I guess, Content will always be King to me, yet still as equally important in overall SEO.

i agree with scorpionagency.. you just need to put more effort on making unique and quality content.. other link building strategies are important but not as content is.

If I had to pick one and one only, then I would pick content. HOWEVER, as a webmaster, you are NEVER in that position. You never will have to make that choice and the right answer is almost always a blend of the 2.
It's kind of like saying if I had to pick a source of in bound links what would it be...well, the right answer is a diverse and defensible set of links that come from a variety of sources and with a variety of (all relevant) anchor text.
So I guess what I am saying here is...you need both. Building a site without one of the other is fun to talk about in theory. It does not however enter into the reality of everyday webmastering IMO.
Best;
Eric

Now...now again this CONTENT IS KING thread!!!
Well why in the heavens would you write a one liner on your page??? It's your website you should do what ever it takes to take your site to the next level. Isn't it?
Links is what I will have any day, and there are 100s in not 1000s of places who could give me links!
Content works in baiting links. If you write great articles! Well by great articles i mean great which would actually bend people to link to your site. This would help you in long run as an article is noted to fetch links over a period of time.
So, keep building links. What ever way you choose!

There are different kinds of content: There is super content that will bait links if you promote it (otherwise who will know about it to put a link to it?), There is long tail content that is designed to get traffic from longer keyword phrases and there is regular content. All content needs links to be effective--the difference is how to get the links and what link strength you need. For example, for long tail keywords you need less strength. For competitive keywords the great content is important but if you don't tell people about it (and one way is getting links) it won't do much good.

Well the content is more vital than links. Cos its content only which brings or boost up the traffic to your site. A quality content brings the visitors and convince them to have links with it....

I think both are of importance, it is true that if you have a good
content you can attract lots of visitors. But before they knew
about your site's content you should have a link first, the more
you have a links with other site the more your site will produce
a high traffic.

BOTH are important. but contents leads links.
-- Good Content give you links but no link can give you content.
-- Search Engines rank site at high position for its content and NOT for links. Links are measuring scale how good content the site have.

I beg your pardon!
Umm...i guess you are confusing things... Search engines rank site at high position for its content...this is certainly not correct! High rankings are gained by links... Good quality anchor text links from related sites! is the key...

Almost same thread on Backlink vs. Content..
Content can generate both traffic and backlinks. You can also generate traffic through links but do you think they will go back if they see non-sense content.
The good thing in quality content is your not just gaining a traffic but a reader.

Both are important...but the first thing that we actually do/create is the content so we must have a good content first before we can gather good backlinks.
