Can SEO Be Automated?
It used to be, to an extent, but now public relations plays too big a part.

Recently Commerce360, a very well known SEO company, has gone in the direction of proprietary automated SEO software in what may be an initiative to be the next aQuantive or Performics style acquisition or change the entire SEO industry if successful [my emphasis in bold]:
|
I don't know anything about the company mentioned, or have any affiliation with them.
Your thoughts? Can SEO be automated? Impossible?
HalfDeck makes a good point:
Quote:
You can’t automate everything. Even Google employs thousands of people to help along its algorithms. However, that doesn’t mean a company shouldn’t strive to automate as much as possible.
For example, manually identifying top 50 real estate blogs with blogrolls or dofollow might take you 30 minutes to an hour; on the other hand, running an automated script can give you the same results in a matter of minutes while you spend time doing things you can’t automate.

Here is one simple example. When i find a link exchange offer in my inbox, i try to find out if it is sent by bot or human. If i find some bot-like sentences or other forms i immidiatelly delete it. I know it was sent to another 1000+ webmasters.

it can be automated to do all the grunt work. I still feel there should be a human eye at the point of seo implementations...

Wow, couldn't put it better. One trick I've used is to program my contents description (considering they are usually one paragraph or less) to automatically be used as my meta description. Keywords I usually do manually cause I don't trust a computer to do as good of a job... but that's probably cause I haven't found the best way to program it.

I can't see how effective it would be. I'm sure some aspects can be automated, but completely automated? They are going to need to update the software constantly.

You can only automate SEO up to that extent which does not call for human perceptions. Anyway, hats-off to Commerce360 for making such an incredible attempt.

Yes, it can be automated... But there is always person behind doing that kind of SEO... So manual or organic SEO is still the best SEO... You can monitor all your activities as well...In automated you may never know if it's effective or not...

Looks spammy when you automate SEO, it is better to do it manually.

Google's filters are often based on automation. The way to win is to NOT automate.
